Wild West
I have decided to base my environment around The Wild west theme. I have decided to choose this style environment because I have been inspired by the Wild West theme from films and games. One of my favorite games is Red Dead Redemption in which was based around a Wild West theme. Also there is other games that also follow the Wild West theme such as Call Of Juraz in which implies the wild west environment very clearly.
Personally, I think creating environments on Modeler based around Wild West aspects will be interesting and also fun to participate in. In addition I believe my genre type suites me best as I already have ideas on what things I can create and upload to Unity.
For this First task I decided to research around the internet for pictures and information based around the Wild West. I did this to help me in later tasks as well as in this task. I wanted to take a look at things related to the Wild West environment so I could then work from the images I've gathered.
After doing research on the Wild West environment I found out key information in which will help me in this project. Research shows that criminal activity was prime in the Wild West times in USA. Many gangs created hideouts away from civilization, and many people were also poor.
Also USA were having trouble with a tribe called The Red Indians meaning constant fighting was taking place as USA citizens and Cowboys fought to get their land back.
Also, The wild west times were in the 1800's, mostly 1840 - 1900 and by 1915 the Wild West had near enough ended. The American civil war had ended by 1865, but the Wild West lived on and didn't end when the war ended.
This was because even though the battle was between the north and the south of USA. The Red Indians proceeded to use conflict against the Americans and the Americans used conflict back nearly causing another but this time between the american army and The Red Indians.
Wild West Towns
From the research I have gathered, I have some ideas on what environment I can build using modeler. In addition I have decided to collect more images however as the more images I can work from, the more guidance I will have.
I am focusing on films and games based on the wild west as the images from films and games will be very reliable. Also I have decided to gather images from the game software Unity as people use Unity to create games and some games created do use Wild West props such as windmills, wagons etc.
Wild West Train station and Criminal Hideout
As mentioned earlier, games such as Red Dead Redemption have inspired me to create this environment, but also many films such as Django and Cowboys and Indians have gave me ideas on what props / assets I can create.
Wild West camp sites and abandoned town
These images show a Wild West based camp sight and an abandoned town. I found these images interesting and believe I can use these images to help me when creating the assets fro the game.
Wild West buildings
I thought buildings would be a good thing to look at as I Wild West buildings may attempt to create a wild west house, shack on modeler for my level.
Overall, This research I believe will help me in this project as I have learnt more about the wild west but also I now have a better idea of what things to build for the level. I will look back at these images when on modeler as these images are guidelines in which I can work from.
